Sanford’s August ‘Cinema in the Park’- ‘The Fortune Cookie”
Scheduled for Friday, August 3, Sanford’s next Cinema in the Park will be “The Fortune Cookie”. The 1966 Billy Wilder comedy paired Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon for the first time. It also won Matthau an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
It is one of Matthau’s all-time best performances as the ambulance chasing brother-in-law of Lemmon, a TV cameraman who gets slightly injured during football game. Nothing goes smoothly as the pair try to convince the insurance company that the victim’s legs are actually paralyzed and he can collect a multi-million dollar settlement.
The movie will be shown at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4 at Centennial Park in downtown Sanford, located at 5th Street and Park Avenue.
