| Oratorical Contest & Scholarship FundThe oratorical contest will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, located at 400 East First Street (corner of First Street and Sanford Avenue/Downtown Sanford), Time: 6:00 p.m. Eligible candidates are local high school seniors. They are required to write a speech on the life and ideals of Dr. King and conduct an oral presentation to a panel of local community leaders and educators. Scholarships will be presented to first, second and third place winners in the names of the following individuals: t Martin Luther King, Jr.t Former Sanford Mayor Bettye D. Smith, creator of the MLK, Jr. Steering Committee.t Doris Thomas (deceased) former Seminole County educator.
